China’s Agricultural Investment in Africa

With funding from Smith Richardson Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, CARI researchers have been exploring the myths and realities of China’s commercial agricultural investment in Africa. CARI researchers’ fieldwork has covered Angola, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe so far (2011 to 2014). This project has produced seven policy briefs and a book: Will Africa Feed China? SAIS-CARI has published an updated database of Chinese agricultural investment in Africa, found here, with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
